Our Philosophy

Most current software development projects are huge and aimed entirely at the corporate market. These products are typically very expensive, difficult to use, and tailored exclusively for corporates (ie: useless for running a small business but great for building empires). At the same time new and radically more powerful software development tools are enabling small teams of people to produce better quality software at a fraction of the cost.

There are numerous very cheap (sometimes even free) off the shelf software products which have nearly all the functionality of vastly more expensive corporate style products. Think of your accounting package, it may not know what time your staff arrived at work and how long their coffee break was, but it can tell you all you need to know about your business.

Often the software you need has been written already and is available in the Open Source community. This is the true future of software development, especially for Small companies. Many open source projects are web based which effectively makes them robust scaleable, available anywhere and cheap to deliver. This is the future of SME software.

Applying internet technology to your business is the same. There are many cheap ways to harness the power of the internet. Unfortunately there is a shortage of skills and a surplus of bullshit in the market (as with any rapidly developing technology). A small business cannot afford to hire a highly skilled programmer, nor can it trust the advice of consultants who have grown fat on corporate commissions for selling products they barely understand.

Seriti software is a small business and so are all our clients. So why settle for corporate software leftovers when you can have a better product and better service at a far better price.

Seriti software is committed to developing Open Source software wherever possible. The Open Source software movement is in it's infancy but all signs are that eventually it will become the dominant form of software development. This will happen not because of any philosophy or other noble reasons (of which there are many) but primarily because it delivers better software, easier maintenance, at a far better price.
